Obesity costs the US healthcare system almost $173 billion a year. (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/journals.plos.org\/plosone\/article?id=10.1371\/journal.pone.0247307\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)\u00a0 In addition, the CDC lists more than 37 million Americans as having diabetes, and another 96 million adults with prediabetes, which puts them at risk for type 2 diabetes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Diabetes can lead to serious complications, such as heart disease, kidney failure, and blindness.
